An ornamental onion of enormous proportions! The perfectly shaped amethyst spheres measure 6" in diameter and add a superb visual impact to the garden. For the most eye-catching displays, group the bulbs together.
Perennial, zones 5-8
Bulb Planting Depth: 6-8”
Spacing: 1 bulb per square foot, 8-12” apart
Light Needs: Full sun
Soil Needs: Average to Fertile, well-drained
Bloom Time: Late spring, early summer
Uses: Flower beds, containers, borders, background plant, cut flowers, attracts pollinators, deer resistant
Care: Amend soil with compost before planting bulbs. Feed with a granular flower bulb fertilizer at planting time and/or in the spring when the leaves emerge. Cut back spent flowers and allow foliage to die back naturally before removing foliage. Will produce small bulbs, “offsets” that can be divided from the main bulb and transplanted after a few growing seasons.
