grow these every year in a mix with Sunset and Painted Lady - they are prolific and gorgeous and take no work at all.
Great! Loved this vine, again should have ordered earlier in the season.
The seeds grew well when planted in May here in zone 6b. Plants grew to have large amounts of flowers in summer, and began setting pods once the cooler weather came in the late summer. Pods vary on productivity from 1-6 seeds per pod. But with some site selection for the first year, seed saving could result in larger quantity per pod in future years. Seeing as this is a perennial species, we are mulching the roots and hoping for a more abundant harvest going into year two.
I do love these scarlet blooms. I wish that I’d started them sooner as they are not climbing very high. Next year I’ll be better prepared. The blossoms truly are eye catchers.
I wanted the beans primarily for the blooms to attract hummingbirds. I have not been disappointed . I planted seeds in two large pots and others in my carport planter—At each end that have tall posts. The seeds came up soon, grew quickly, and have many blooms. The Hummers are loving them. Have few beans but will keep an eye out for them. Thank you so much
