Sub Arctic Plenty Tomato (60 Days)

Developed in Canada, the Sub Arctic Plenty Tomato is one of the world's earliest tomatoes. It sets fruit early and under cool summer conditions and is a heavy yielder;  2 oz, round, red tomatoes in clusters. The plants may be placed close together and don't require staking.

Determinate 

Germination: 7-14 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 75-85ºF. Cooler soil temperatures increase germination time or result in poor germination.

Seed Sowing Depth: ¼” deep

Starting Indoors: 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds in flats/cells/pots. Provide 75-85 ºF. After the first true leaves appear, transplant into larger, 3-6” pots/cells/flats . Fertilize the seedlings every 7-10 days with a liquid or water soluble fertilizer (diluted to ¼ of the suggested measurement). Transplant seedlings 24-36” apart after the last frost.

Harvest: When the fruit is red (or the color of the variety planted) and firm.

Tips:  Sub Arctic Plenty Tomato should be planted in fertile soil, amended with compost. Mulch and provide even moisture throughout the growing season with good drainage. Planting deeper than they were growing in the containers makes a stronger root system. Apply a light compost tea every few weeks. Do not apply excessive nitrogen, which can promote excessive foliage and poor fruit set.
