SNOW CROWN CAULIFLOWER (F1 hybrid 53 days)

Heads are medium large with many exceeding two pounds in weight. Reasonably early and the choice if you want a really nice big head. This All America Award winner produces dependably even under adverse conditions.

Germ 6-14 days

PLANTING:

Indoors- 4-5 weeks before last frost 1/4” deep with soil temperature at 65-75 degrees. After germination, grow in cool conditions 57-68 degrees for best results. Liquid fertilize seedlings every 7-10 days. Transplant out when there is little chance of frost.

Outdoors- Early spring until mid summer for fall crops. Plant 1/2 “deep and 18” apart.

Harvest- Tie up leaves around heads to blanch. Watch closely and pick before the curds begin to loosen.

Tips- A heavy feeder transplant/direct seed into rich, well composted soil and side dress when buds begin to form.

    Cauliflower heaven

    Currently I am in cauliflower heaven with Snow Crown cauliflower. If I had more space, I would be growing more plants than I put out into my garden. They started easily from seed indoors and I have direct seeded more in the old lettuce bed. The heads are medium size, and will take on a purple tinge if you don't pick them promptly which warns me to snag them before they bolt. They are tasty and sweet. I will plant them again!

    After years of failures with

    After years of failures with cauliflower, I tried Snow Crown about three years ago and was rewarded with beautiful early heads. I was ecstatic and continue to be so! I now have about 20 seedlings in the garden, and can't wait for them to mature. This is very reliable and early variety.
