I've traditionally grown 'love lies bleeding' amaranth with its long tassels, but I am glad I tried this one! I had an easy time getting the plants started (some indoors, some direct - which quickly caught up), and they required almost no care once they were in place. Each seed makes a single, lovely stalk, so I'd say to mass them together for best effect. I noted that they performed best and the color was most vibrant where they had a few hours of partial shade. They are so pretty that I haven't eaten them, preferring just to enjoy them as long as I can. They look equally nice planted alongside of leaf lettuces, or in the ornamental garden! This is such a striking plant and asked nothing of me!
