PURPLE CAYENNE PEPPER (70 days)

2

Germ 10-14 days
This exceptionally ornamental pepper is also one of the hottest we have encountered. Two foot plants are covered with dozens and dozens of light purple blossoms which turn into dark purple, thin peppers about 3” long, a bit smaller than a regular cayenne. 20 seeds

PLANTING:

Indoors- Start 8-10 weeks before last frost, 1/4” deep with soil temperatures 70-80 degrees. Liquid fertilize seedlings every 7-10 days. Transplant 18” apart when danger of frost has passed and when soil is 65 degrees.

Harvest- Using a sharp instrument, pick first fruits when they reach usable size, this helps accelerate the growth of the other peppers on the plant. Leave some on to mature, to color and sweeten up.

Tips- Plant in fertile, well composted soil, mulch and provide adequate water. It helps to use row cover early in the season giving the plants extra warmth, especially in the north. Side dress when flowers begin to form.

seedlings

I've never planted these until this season so I am not sure how they will turn out but so far so good, I planted my seeds and in one week I have started to see seedlings from just about all that I have planted. Also there were more than 20 seeds in a pack as I was able to plant just about two seeds in each cell pack and the cell pack I have is a 20 count. I will add a new review in a few weeks as I see more progress .
