I never grew cabbage before. I started them indoors during the winter. By the time I set them out in a place that gets only 5 or 6 of direct sun, they looked pretty rough--spindly and etiolated. I planted them 12 inches apart in all directions and just below the first true leaves, using black fabric **** guard. Fertilized with 10-10-10 granules at planting and later with dilute liquid ferilizer. I used a light dusting of diatomaceous earth periodically and sprayed with Thuricide BT. Almost zero bug holes and those were in the throw away leaves.! Every single plant grew great and formed a nice head about 5-6 inches across. Delicious! This is a nice cabbage when you don't want huge heads. This will be my go to cabbage in the future.
