Dawn Mix Anchusa

Anchusa capensis

Alkanet or wild bugloss. This plant is truly wonderful and very underused in gardens. A perfect plant for a cottage style garden with deep azure blue, pink and white flowers that stand out, blooming for a very long time.  An easy plant to grow, all it needs is average to dry soil - definitely not high-maintenance.  50 seeds

Perennial, zone 4-8

Germination:  7-25 days

Seed Planting Depth: On surface, lightly cover.

Starting Indoors/Outdoors: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost and provide 70 degrees soil temperatures. Sow outdoors after last frost . 

Height and Width:  60" x 24"

Spacing:18-24”

Light Needs :  Full sun

Soil Needs : Average to fertile, well drained, dry

Approximate days to flower from seed:  Perennial, blooms late spring into summer.

Uses: Wildflower and cottage gardens, cut flower, dyeing ,attracts bees and beneficials, deer resistant.
