Checker Lily Mix Fritillaria adds a unique conversation piece to your spring bulb collection. It has such an uncommon color pattern that makes you admire the magnificence of Mother Nature. Also known as The Guinea Hen Flower, Fritillaria meleagris is an heirloom species dating back to 1575. It has bell-shaped, checkered, and veined flowers that are either maroon or ivory-white with grass-like foliage. It is also deer and rodent-resistant

PLANTING GUIDE

Fritillaria meleagris 

Perennial, Zones 3-10

Bulb Planting Depth: 3-4”

Height:  8-10”

Spacing:  12 bulbs per square foot, 2-4” apart

Light Needs: Full sun to light shade

Soil Needs:  Average to fertile, moist but well-drained

Bloom Time:  Mid-spring 

Uses:  Flower beds, containers, rock gardens, borders, cut flowers

Care:  Fritillaria prefers organically rich soil - amend the area with compost before planting. Feed with a granular flower bulb fertilizer at planting time or in the spring when the leaves emerge. Fritillaria does not like to be disturbed, once you have chosen its home it is recommended that you leave it where you plant it.
