Clarkia

Clarkia is a beauty and easy to grow. This wildflower is great for cut flowers and for pollinators.  It grows to 3 feet tall with hollyhock-type spires of double blooms on graceful stems. Colors range in the white and red spectrums.

Annual

Germination:14-21 days

Germination Temperature:Optimum soil temperatures 65-75ºF

Seed Planting Depth: Sow on surface and press into soil, seeds need light to germinate

Starting Indoors: Direct seeding is recommended

Sowing Outdoors: Direct sow when soil temperatures reach 65ºF, around the last frost date. Sow seeds lightly, thin to 6” apart.

Growth Habit:Upright

Height and Width:18-36” x 12”  

Spacing:6-8” apart

Light Needs: Full sun, light shade (hot areas)

Soil Needs:Average, well-drained 

Approximate days to flower from seed: 70-80 days

Uses:  Cut flowers,flower beds, wildflower gardens,attracts pollinators 

Care: Easy to grow and low maintenance. Cut Flowers- harvest when the blooms are just starting to open.

Very pretty

Grew very easily, multi branched, large plants. Bloomed profusely. I hope they will reseed for years to come.

Wonderful!

These are amazing! I grew them in pots indoors during the winter so I could have something pretty to look at. During the summer it's best to direct sow them or start in peat pots.
