This variety is grown primarily for the greens. There tend to be 7 tops which are dark green, crisp, and delicious, particularly when harvested young. This variety is resistant to aphids and mildew. Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep and 3 inches apart as soon as the ground can be worked and continue throughout the season.

Germination: 5-7 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 60-75ºF.

Seed Sowing Depth: 1/2" deep

Sowing Outdoors: Starting in early spring through late summer. Sow 1/2-1" apart, thin to 3-6" apart, soon after the seedlings emerge. Sow every 7-10 days for a continuous harvest.

How much does a packet plant: 20-25 foot single row

Harvest: Leafy greens and roots from baby to full size. The younger the roots the more tender better flavor.

Tips: They need rapid growth for optimum results. Provided fertile soil and consistent moisture. Amend with compost at planting time if needed.

An amazing little turnip!

I have to say that i wasn't sure what to expect from these, i have never tried growing a variety that was created specifically for the leafy tops, but i sure wasn't disappointed! They shot up like a rocket even despite our unexpected and persistent heat wave, where it normally should be in the 70's, its been in the high 80's and 90's, but these little wonders still are powering right through it! And let's not forget those leaves, gosh they are huge! All of us here at our home agree that they are the best tasting greens of any other turnip we have grown, we have already harvested the leaves twice from them for cooked greens to serve for dinner, and they just keep right on springing back up!
