SUGAR LACE II SNAP PEA (65 days)

3

Germ 7-14 days
The first semi-leafless or half leaf Sugar Snap type pea. It is also dwarf, growing to a height of only 16” so it requires no support. The lacy tendrils are unique and attractive, bearing large quantities of 3” peas with a distinctively sweet flavor. 200 seeds

PLANTING:

Outdoors- Sow 1” deep and 1-2” apart in early spring with soil temperatures 40-70 degrees.

Harvest- Pick every day for continuous harvest.

Tips- Adding inoculant with rhizobium bacteria will increase yields. Plant again, two months before last frost date for smaller fall harvests. Varieties with vine lengths over 3 feet require support.

Best new snap pea in my trials

First time trying these interesting peas. Very hardy through a tough spring, including some 90+ degree days. Pods sit up high for easy harvesting and tendrils really support these 2 foot vines. Very tasty, juicy & productive. The shoots may be good for eating also. This pea will be ordered next year to continue trial. Critter protection a must!

Eat 'em like candy

This is THE BEST variety of pea. It has a great, sweet flavor. The plants are beautiful with lots of little curly tendrils. The peas are large enough to be eaten out of the pod. But what surprised me the most is the leaves. Before the weather started warming up we ate the leaves right off the vines (making it easier to find the already easily found pods.) The leaves are buttery sweet, and I loved them more than the peas themselves. No discrediting the peas, however. The leaves lost their sweetness as the weather warmed, but the snap peas stayed sweet and juicy. So yummy! I can't wait to grow more of these!
