Started flowering even before I set them out into the garden

Super impressed with these. This is my first year using salvias, and they couldn't have been easier. I started in CowPots under lights the first week in March, and by the time I put them into the garden on April 30th, about half of them had already started blooming. I am using these to attract hummingbirds, and had enough to put in several clumps throughout the garden, as well as to fill a planter. I'll come back at the end of the season to update on how well they performed, but hopes are high!

Bonfire Salvia

I have ordered from Pinetree for several years and have been very satisfied and even impressed with the fast and accurate service. The germination rate of the Bonfire Salvia is about 50%. The plants that grew are very small and progressing slowly. I have no way of knowing if there is anything wrong with the plants. It could be a soil issue. Most plants in my greenhouse are doing very well. Marigolds are already transplanted to the rock garden and are about 4 inches tall.

I started the Bonfire salvia (Salvia splendens) seed indoors several weeks early, then transplanted them out to the garden. They started blooming in late June and haven't stopped since. They are beautiful. My plants have grown four feet tall! I didn't know they would get so tall; next year I will site them better.
