SUNFLOWER - SOLE D'ORO - Discontinued

The branching, 3 to 4 foot tall plants are covered with large, golden yellow, fully double blooms from July on. (One customer informed us that hers grew 6 1/2' tall with 1 main flower and 10 to 12 side flowers.) Stalks are very sturdy. This one makes a good cut flower. Plant in full sun, 1/2" deep, thin to 12"-18" apart, keep moist. Sunflowers attract bees, birds, and butterflies. 20 seeds

    Cheerful and sturdy

I am ordering more of these today, as I have been pretty lucky with this variety. I live in an area of occasional strong winds in the summer, (Camano Island, WA) and when all the delphiniums, hollyhocks and the taller Dahlias get blown over in full bloom, this sunflower is always there for me! Lots of flowers on abundant side shoots, and a heavy stalk makes it a keeper. Gets about 5 feet tall.

    Beautiful but late bloomer

They have beautiful, vibrant yellow petals and I really like the green center. Mine also grew to be over 6 ft tall with many side shoot flowers but did not bloom until Sept here in zone 5 at 3000 ft so I don't know how many of the side flowers will have time to open. Love these.
