Known also as the summer snapdragon you will be impressed like we were by the carefree continuous blooms throughout the entire summer. First Angelonia series available from seed. We found it easy to start with low maintenance; it grew quickly, branched out without pinching back, had low water needs, and loved the heat. Compact, upright plant forming spikes in mellow shades of pink, purple, and white. Use in containers or plant in masses. F1 hybrid

PLANTING

Angelonia angustifolia

Annual, perennial zone 8-11

Germination: 7-30 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 70-75ºF

Seed Planting Depth: Sow on the surface and press into soil, seeds need light to germinate

Starting Indoors:  Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Provide 65-70ºF soil temperature. Transplant apart after the last frost, 8-12” apart.  

Sowing Outdoors: Direct sowing is not recommended 

Growth Habit: Columnar, mounded

Height and Width: 14-20" x 12-14" 

Spacing: 8-12" apart

Light Needs: Full sun 

Soil Needs: Average, well-drained

Approximate days to flower from seed: 90-100 days

Uses: Flower beds, containers, borders, attracts beneficial, deer and rabbit resistant, drought-tolerant-heat loving, established plants tolerate drought. Low maintenance.

Care: Water seedlings regularly until established. Amend soil with compost before transplanting. Deadhead flowers to encourage more blooms. Apply a liquid fertilizer every 3-4 weeks or use a time-release fertilizer at planting time.
