Jiffy-7 Peat Pellets (100) 42 MM

3 reviews

JIFFY-7 PEAT PELLETS

Convenient, pre-dibbed, 1/4" thick disks comprised of compressed peat. When soaked in water, they expand 7 times their height so your seedlings can be planted directly into the ground or container. The pellets are wrapped by a thin, degradable netting that holds the pellet firmly together so root ball stays intact, allowing roots to grow through, preventing transplant shock and root damage to your new plants. 1 11/16" diameter and expands to 1 11/16" high

Seeds

Everything was fine. My garden looks great and I’m reaping a great harvest! The pods were ok but think I’m going to just start seeds in cups like before. Thanks, Ron

Peat pellets

Great! I love the selection the seeds: they have good germination rates. The peat pellets are a good size, not too small.

Not great in our climate

Shopping experience has been fine, but if this is a review about the peat pellets I have to caution gardeners in drier climes (I am in NM) about these for some plants. It is almost impossible to keep the top 2” of soil here moist enough, so no matter direct watering, etc., the peat pellets tend to run dry in the ground and don’t break down quick enough. My starts looked great in the house but when put in the garden, they withered no matter how diligent I was about watering. I have started slitting the peat pellets when setting out, but that is a lot of work and does disturb the roots that have made it through the fabric. My β€œno” on recommendation has more to do with my climate than the product!
