Not exactly the right time of year to plant them (Jan. rather than Sept.) but, the seedlings are growing stronger right now...
I grew one hill and got 7 pumpkins from it. The seeds were the best I've ever had and I have ordered more for this year. They are far superior to the ones you can buy in the grocery store. Even raw and soaked in saltwater they were pretty tasty.
I just planted my seeds about 5 weeks ago, so have yet to experience the finished product, but if they keep going at this rate, my grandkids will be eating seeds in September. the vines leaped out of the ground and are the most vigorous in the garden - I love watching them grow.
Only 2 of the 16 seeds in the packet germinated when started indoors with potting soil and under grow lights. :(
Mine grew and produced well, and must have had good flavor, because deer left everything else alone but ate most of each Kakai pumpkin!
