15 seeds

Cucurbita pepo

Germination: 7-10 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 70-90ºF. Planting in soil under 70ºF may result in poor germination.

Seed Sowing Depth: ½ -1” deep

Starting Indoors:  3-4 weeks before the last frost. Sow 2-3 seeds per cells/pots, thin to the strongest seedling. We like to use individual biodegradable paper, peat, or cow pots because it provides the least amount of stress to the roots when transplanting. Transplant after last frost when the soil warms to 70ºF. Space 36-48” apart, in rows 48-60” apart.

Sowing Outdoors: After the last frost when the soil reaches at least 70ºF. Sow 2-3 seeds per space/hill, 36-48” apart, in rows 48-60” apart.

How much does a packet plant: 12-15 foot single row, 4-5 hills

Harvest: When skin turns color and rinds are hard. Leave a few inches of the stem on for best storage potential.

Tips: Heavy feeders, requiring high nitrogen. Plant into fertile soil or amend with compost or manure. Heavy water needs, mulch, and supply adequate water, at least 1” per week for optimum growth.

I recommend this product
a good hullless pumpkin...

Not exactly the right time of year to plant them (Jan. rather than Sept.) but, the seedlings are growing stronger right now...

Delicious Seeds!

I grew one hill and got 7 pumpkins from it. The seeds were the best I've ever had and I have ordered more for this year. They are far superior to the ones you can buy in the grocery store. Even raw and soaked in saltwater they were pretty tasty.

Kakai Hulless Pumpkin seeds

I just planted my seeds about 5 weeks ago, so have yet to experience the finished product, but if they keep going at this rate, my grandkids will be eating seeds in September. the vines leaped out of the ground and are the most vigorous in the garden - I love watching them grow.

Kakai seeds

Only 2 of the 16 seeds in the packet germinated when started indoors with potting soil and under grow lights. :(

Probably 5 stars?

Mine grew and produced well, and must have had good flavor, because deer left everything else alone but ate most of each Kakai pumpkin!
