We had pretty good germination rates and the plants climbed well, though they are not particularly leafy. Kept picked, we had continued production right up to frost (mid-October in Ohio). After blanching and freezing, the body and flavor (nutty and pleasant) was almost as good as fresh. We tried them pencil-thin and at a little more mature size, and both were really good - no strings on the large ones and still tender! If they were more productive we would make these a regular addition to our garden, but with limited space, we need to maximize production.
I love these beans.
These beans were not NEARLY as good as Emerite, my favorite of many years. They matured too fast and got overly large and tough, whereas Emerite kept on producing for the whole season, making it easy to keep up with harvesting. Fortex is also not as flavorful and the color is not as good. Bring back Emerite!
Best pole bean (or bush bean) around. Real bean flavor, p.s. deer love it too, ,needed to protect them, but well worth it.. Also very productive , delicious and tender at all stages.
Kept getting strings in our beans no matter what we tried until these beans 3 years ago. They taste amazing and grow so fantastic, wont buy ay other green beans. My mom begs for them. Last year was a weird year and the seeds disappeared twice in the soil before taking off the 3rd time. I have read that can happen if the soil isnt warm enough, so I dont hold it against the beans. You will not be sorry as these beans DO NOT dissappoint!!
