English Bluebells are vigorous perennial bulbs that produce small clumps of strap-shaped leaves bearing arching nodding bell-shaped violet-blue flowers. They have a long blooming period from mid to late spring and go dormant by summer. They are effortless to grow, require minimal care, and look gorgeous massed in a wooded area. They will naturally multiply on their own bringing you many years of spring cheer!

PLANTING GUIDE

Hyacinthoides non-scripta

Perennial, Zones 3-9

Bulb Planting Depth: 3”

Height: 6-8

Spacing: 12 bulbs per square foot, 3-4" apart

Light Needs: Full sun to light shade

Soil Needs: Average to fertile, moist well-drained

Bloom Time: Late spring 

Uses: Flower beds, rock gardens, containers, cut flowers, wild gardens and naturalizing, under trees and shrubs, on the edges of woods or garden spaces, deer and rodent-resistant. 

Care: Amend soil with compost before planting bulbs. Feed with a granular flower bulb fertilizer at planting time or in the spring when the leaves emerge. No need to cut back spent flowers but allow foliage to die back naturally before removing (4-6 weeks after flowering).
