Chocolate Soldier Aquilegia

Aquilegia viridiflora

This columbine runs about a foot tall and is covered with interesting bi-colored brown and yellow flowers that hang like little bells. The blue green, frilly foliage looks good all season making it a good choice for rock gardens.   20 seeds

Perennial,  zone 3-8

Germination: 14-30 days

Seed Planting Depth:on surface

Starting Indoors/Outdoors:  Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Cold treat seed by sowing into moist soil or paper towel, wrap in a clear plastic bag and place in refrigerator for 2-3 weeks; then provide 65-75 degree temperatures until germination. Sow outdoors in early spring or early fall, spacing 5-10 seeds every 8-12".
