Butta Zucchini / Summer Squash (F1 Hybrid, 45 Days)

Just what the name implies, this zucchini has “butta” yellow skin and a smooth, creamy texture. When picked around 6”, this is by far one of the best yellow zucchini we have tasted. High yields from an open growth plant makes for easy harvest while producing an abundance of uniform fruit.

PLANTING

Cucurbita pepo

Germination: 4-10 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 70-85ºF

Seed Sowing Depth: 1/2-1" deep

Sowing Indoors: 3-4 weeks before last frost. Provide 70-85ºF soil temperature. Sow 2-3 seeds per cell/pot. Sowing into individual biodegradable peat/cow pots reduces root damage when transplanting. Transplant 36-48" apart after last frost.

Sowing Outdoors: Sow after last frost when soil temperature is over 70ºF. Sow a few seeds every 36-48".

Harvest: Check and harvest a few times a week. Cut or kindly twist off fruit, starting at a 3-4”.

Tips: Plant in fertile soil, amended with compost or well rotted manure and keep well watered. They benefit from growing on black plastic and by using row covers for weed, insect control, and more rapid growth.

    Good Squash

I bought this squash years ago and had very good luck with it. I'm growing it again this year and the one plant I planted has at least a dozen squash on it. I may end up with more than that. Who knows. I'm happy again.

    Feed me

This is the best textured zucchini I have ever grown. The plant was extremely prolific with little care. I planted it out on the street corner and it's feeding the neighborhood. Had to prune it back to keep it off the street and keep from swallowing the neighbors dog! It's send out new leaves, flowers and fruit.

    What a Squash!

Delicious tasting and quick producer. Plants yield so much we donated and stored several pounds. Great on the grill. It is a little delicate to transport but we are purchasing them for our 3rd season in a row.
