Monarda Bergamo

Monarda x hybrida

Bee balm. New selection of monarda, with a dwarf habit producing a showy collection of tubular rose purple flowers circling around the stalk in individual tiers. Such a great performing and pretty plant that it won the Fleuroselect Gold Medal for 2008. First year flowering perennial. Highly resistant to mildew.  25 seeds.

Perennial, zone 5-8

Germination:  7-10 days

Seed Planting Depth:  1/16"

Starting Indoors/Outdoors: Start indoors 6-8  weeks before last frost. Provide 70-75 degree soil temperature. Outdoors after last frost.  

Height and Width:  18-24" x 12-14"

Spacing:  16-18"

Light Needs:  Full sun

Soil Needs:   Average to fertile, well drained

Approximate days to flower from seed:   70-80 days, early summer 

Uses:  Bedding,  planters and windowboxes, cut flower, dried flower , edible flowers and leaves used for tea.
