A superfood of increasing popularity, this fast-growing deciduous shrub thrives in a multitude of soil types, making it a great option for many homesteads across the US. At maturity, Aronia will grow 3-6 feet tall with a spread of 6-10 feet, making them a nice choice for a hedge or wind-block. The shiny, black, astringent berries are high in vitamin C and make delicious jams or smoothie additions, although many claim they are too pungent to eat raw. This mid-season bloomer is an asset in any landscape with its soft white flowers and dark green leaves, which turn red in the fall. Although they prefer well-drained soils and full sun, they tolerate wet feet and still thrive in rain gardens, swales, as well as help with erosion control. Aronia berry shrubs are relatively low maintenance once established, self-pollinating, and a native pollinator plant. 3.25” container grown. Zones 4-7

1 plant- $12.95
2 or more- $11.65 each

PLANTING

Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Prepare a hole twice the width and depth as the root ball. Place in hole and cover with equal parts top soil and composted manure or garden compost. Make sure roots are at least 2” below the surface. Water regularly until established and during extended dry spells.

    Aronia berry 'Viking'

Three of the four aronia plants I ordered arrived looking healthier than any I have purchased elsewhere. Would have given Pinetree "6 stars", but the fourth appeared dead. I potted them all up, the three budded out immediately and I was just about ready to request a refund/replacement for the fourth - after 2 months of pampering with no sign of life - when it sent up a small shoot. With some TLC it will survive, but it would have been nice if it were as healthy and robust as the others.

The 2 Aronia Berry plants are over 12 inches tall already. They are so healthy. Love them.

    Nice, healthy looking plant

My aronia berry bush arrived today and was immediately planted. It has lots of buds just breaking as well as a really nice root mass. Hope this will grow into a nice bush that'll supply us with some great berries for juicing and teas.
