Late season. A specialty gourmet fingerling-type potato developed by the University of Maine. Pinto Gold Potato has a red and yellow “pinto type” skin pattern with creamy yellow flesh. A great potato for the home grower, farm markets, and restaurants. Our employee, Deby who has a small farm here in Maine planted 2 pounds of Pinto Golds and harvested 120 pounds! Her secret compost and plenty of water. As a self-claimed potato chip addict, she says they make amazing potato chips too! Excellent roasted but also good boiled, pan-fried, and baked. It may be harvested early for a smaller fingerling type potato or left in the ground for a large baking type potato. Tubers can develop somewhat irregular shapes in extreme heat. (100-135 Days)

SORRY, WE CANNOT SHIP TUBERS AND PLANTS TO: AK, HI, ID, APO, PR, CANADA and FOREIGN COUNTRIES.

PLANTING

Plant whole or cut into pieces (2-3) eyes each. Allow pieces to air dry for 24 hours. Place 6” apart in rows 3’ apart. Cover the tuber with soil. Continue to cover as the vines grow by hilling soil, leaves, straw, or compost over the tuber. Leave only small portions of the growing plant exposed to promote more potatoes.

Maine Certified Seed Potatoes

All of our seed is Maine certified or foundation seed that has been field-tested throughout the growing season. Samples from each field have been tested for potato viruses. Two pounds of potatoes will plant approximately 8’ row, 12 sq. feet, or 10 hills.
