Hardneck- Porcelain.  A very winter hardy porcelain type that grows full-bodied, well-formed heads. Strong raw taste, softens and mellows when cooked. Sweet and nutty when roasted or caramelized. White wrappers and red-purple tinted cloves. Produces bulbs with 4-6 large cloves per head and stores very well. Planted in composted amended soil the 1 ½ -2-inchbulbs will produce hearty sized bulbs the next season.Don't forget to harvest and eat the scapes (Soup, Pesto, Hummus) the following season or leave a few on to produces bulblets for planting next fall.

1/4 POUND PER ORDER (APPROX. 3-4 BULBS)

1 POUND (APPROX. 7-8 BULBS)

Planting:

Separate cloves, plant 2-4 inches deep and 5-6 inches apart with pointed end up, 3-4 weeks before the ground freezes.

Harvest:

When lower 4-5 leaves have dried. Dry and hang out of direct light in a warm area with food air circulation. After they have dried for 2-3 weeks, cut off the stem, 1" from bulb and trim roots.

Tips:

Plant in well drained, rich soil, amend with organic matter, such as compost. Mulch the garlic 4" with straw or chopped leaves, this helps protect from extreme winter conditions, keeps soil evenly moist and controls weeds for next season. Cut off scapes when they emerge (the curly seed stalk that will rise from the middle of the plant) so plant can put its energy into producing the bulb, not seed head. You can leave scapes on, producing smaller bulbs and the bulbets from the seed head can be planted for full sized garlic in 2 years.

Grown in soil tested free of garlic bloat nematode.

Wait and See

I planted them all in growing bags and a planter. The greens came up and now I have to wait and see what happens next spring. Very excited about it because I am German-born.

garlic

I planted the garlic in October and now there are a few cloves pushing up though the mulch. I will know in late June or early July on how they perform. By the way the cloves look at planting I am confident I will harvest a great crop.Thank you. John

Awesome garlic

I ordered and planted this garlic last September and harvested this summer, end of June. All the cloves planted produced large bulbs. This is a great variety for South- central Missouri.
