Deeply lobed and serrated leaves grow on bushy plants, towering up to 5 ½’ and spreading up to 3’. Mahogany Splendor brings a sophisticated contrast to any landscape or cut flower arrangement. Also performs exceptionally in containers. Areas with long growing seasons will enjoy large deep-red hibiscus blooms near the end of the season.

PLANTING

Hibiscus acetosella

Annual, perennial zones 9 and above

Germination: 10-30 days, soaking seeds overnight aids germination

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 70-80ºF

Seed Planting Depth: Sow on the surface and lightly cover. 

Starting Indoors: Start indoors 10-12 weeks before the last frost. Provide 70-80ºF soil temperature. Transplant after last frost, 18-24” apart

Sowing Outdoors:  Direct sowing is not recommended

Growth Habit: Upright, branching
