Fioretto 60 Cauliflower (F1 Hybrid 60 Days)

A unique cauliflower, originating in Japan, is more of a sprouting type also known as a ‘stick cauliflower.’- Plant along with, Aspabroc (#4401), they are the perfect pair for pickling, grilling, sauteing, roasting, or just plain eating raw. Small florets with long slender stems offer a more flavorful experience with a deep nutty taste and more tender texture than traditional cauliflower. Works well in smaller garden spaces.

Germination 6-14 days

PLANTING:

Indoors- 4-6 weeks before last frost 1/4” deep with soil temperature at 65-75 degrees. After germination, grow in cool conditions 57-68 degrees for best results. Liquid fertilize seedlings every 7-10 days. Transplant out when there is little chance of frost.

Outdoors- Early spring until mid summer for fall crops. Plant 1/2 “deep and 18” apart.

Harvest- Tie up leaves around heads to blanch. Watch closely and pick before the curds begin to loosen.

Tips- A heavy feeder transplant/direct seed into rich, well composted soil and side dress when buds begin to form.

Worth Trying

I was weary at first of growing this nontraditional strain, but I am glad I did. Starting out, the seedlings did not do as well as I hoped, but once I transplanted them, they really took off. Produced large heads looking just like the one shown. They really taste great raw or sauteed.
