Ten Fingers of Naples (Heirloom, 75 Days)

Fitting of its name, this Italian heirloom from Naples bears finger like trusses of medium-sized paste tomatoes  Incredible yields of  4 oz., 4-5’ fruits with firm meaty flesh and a rich, savory flavor with little seed; ideal for purée, salsa, sauces, and canning. It outperformed San Marzano in our garden with over 25 bunches of tomatoes growing on one plant, having 5-7 fruits per bunch. Semi Indeterminate.

25 seeds

PLANTING

Solanum lycopersicum

Semi-Indeterminate

Germination: 7-14 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 70-85ºF.

Seed Sowing Depth: 1/4” deep

Starting Indoors: 6 weeks before last frost. Provide 75-80ºF soil temperatures. Sow 2-3 seeds per cell/pot, thin to the strongest seedling or use the 20 Row seedling flat, transplanting into individual pots when seedlings get their 3rd set of leaves. Fertilize the seedlings every 7-10 days with a liquid or water soluble fertilizer, diluted to ¼ of suggested measurement. Transplant out after last frost. Space 24-36" apart

Sowing Outdoors: Only in areas with very long growing seasons. Sow after last frost.

Harvest: When fruit is red (or color of the variety planted) and firm.

Tips: Plant in fertile soil, amended with compost, mulch and provide even moisture. Plant deeper than they were growing in the containers as it makes a stronger roots system. Apply a light compost tea every few weeks. Do not apply excessive nitrogen, which can promote excessive foliage and poor fruit set.

Tastiest roma-type

I grew these from seeds in 2021. Germination and growth was good. The yield was a little slow getting going but ended up being fantastic. Still getting some smaller ones in October in northern Ohio (zone 6-b). Easily 50 tomatoes per plant, I'd say. The best thing is the taste. As good as all but the best full-sized heirloom tomatoes. I recommend these highly.

10 Fingers of Napoli

Planted 1six pack with 10 seeds under gro-lights in my cellar. ALL came up on 3/30/2019! Plants now about 3-4" high still in the 6-pack and outside on my deck for 1-2 hrs a day, then back inside porch, to harden them off before transplanting into their own 4-6" pots. Very pleased with germination rate and how the plants have grow so far.
