Ruby Gaint Crocus has rich purple flowers that open up with a lighter lavender to white throat. This crocus has larger, taller, and earlier flowers compared to other crocus varieties and does exceptionally well planted in grass or under shrubs and trees, multiplying every season.

PLANTING GUIDE

Crocus tommasinianus- Snow Crocus

Perennial, zones 3-9

Bulb Planting Depth: 3”

Height: 4-6

Spacing: 12 bulbs per square foot, 3-4" apart

Light Needs: Full sun to light shade

Soil Needs: Average to fertile, moist well-drained

Bloom Time: Early spring 

Uses: Flower beds, rock gardens, containers, cut flowers, wild gardens, and naturalizing, under trees and shrubs, on the edges of woods or garden spaces, deer resistant 

Care: Amend soil with compost before planting bulbs. Feed with a granular flower bulb fertilizer at planting time or in the spring when the leaves emerge. Cut back spent flowers and allow foliage to die back naturally before removing (4-6 weeks after flowering). Will produce small bulbs, “offsets” that can be divided from the main bulb and transplanted after a few growing seasons.
