Beta vulgaris

Germination: 5-10 days

Starting Indoors: 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Sow 1-2 seeds per cell/pot. Thin to 1 seedling per cell/pot. Transplant outdoors when the first true leaves appear, 3” apart.

Sowing Outdoors: Early spring with soil temperatures at least 50ºF. Sow 1-2” apart, thin when plants are 2-4” tall, 3-4” apart. Germination is slower at lower soil temperatures.

Growing golden beets

I bought 3 packages of beet seeds, two golden and 1 white. All have grown wonderfully and my yield has never been better. Will keep buying your seeds every year.

At last, beet success!

Have never had any luck in my garden with traditional red beets, but decided to give these a try. They germinated well, matured quickly and taste great. Will plant extra next season!

Swiss chard in the beet package?

In years past I have been very satisfied with this product. Two years ago however, they did not grow at all. They germinated and then inexplicably died, even after replanting. Everything else in my garden did fairly well, so I don't know what happened. Last year, I tried again. this time I got big beautiful plants, but then I realized it was all Swiss chard! I don't know if it was a mix-up in packaging or what. I know I didn't mix my packages up because I also got Swiss chard as expected where I planted from the Swiss chard packet of seeds. I am trying again this year, and hopefully will get golden beets!
