Sugar Sprint Pea (58 Days)

This one is definitely the earliest sugar snaps but it has some other virtues as well. Practically stringless – the least of any snap pea, and has short vines, allowing it to mature with little to no support. Reportedly the best flavor of any of the newer (post sugar ann, sugar bon, sugar rae) sugar snaps and offers a high resistant to powdery mildew.

1 Ounce = 100-120 seeds

Pisum sativum

Germination: 7-14 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 50-75ºF. Planting in cooler soil results in slower germination.

Seed Sowing Depth: 1" deep

Sowing Outdoors- Early spring until last frost date when soil temperature reaches 50-75ºF. Sow 1-2" apart. Sow two months before last frost date for smaller fall harvests.

How much does a packet plant: 12-15 foot single row

Harvest- Pick every day for continuous harvest.

Tips- Adding inoculant with rhizobium bacteria will increase yields. Varieties with vine lengths over 3 feet require support.

Good Snap Peas but not all Seeds were Sugar Sprint

Ordered these to replace Sugar Ann, which is no longer available. They're quick-growing, sweet and tasty -- but a number of the seeds were for English peas. They look similar when young but are a very unpleasant surprise in a stir fry. Wrote a review for this in the spring when I realized what happened but it seems to have disappeared. Second case of wrong seeds for me this season -- not happy with sloppy packing.

Good results

These peas germinated reliably (the last two years) and bore for an usually long time. They retained their fresh flavor longer than some other snap peas I have grown. Great service as always

Sugar Sprint Peas are Terrific

Seed order was sent promptly & accurately. Sugar Sprint peas germinated well in a rotten, unusually cool & wet spring, with constant, large crops. Even on July 1 when most peas are ready to be pulled up, they are still healthy & loaded with pods. I will order this variety again.

Sugar sprint peas. Loved them, my first time with sugarsnaps, they were just wonderful. My crop wasn’t exactly bountiful, but l did get them in rather late. The heat was probably a factor as well. I’ll definitely order them for next year!

My experience was mixed, my seeds didn’t arrive for a long time. But because of the pandemic l know they were out straight trying to process all the orders. They apologized and let me know why after I emailed them. And I will absolutely order next year; hopefully it will be easier for all! Thanks Pinetree
