Golden Beet (Heirloom, 55 Days)

3 inch, round, golden bulbs are renowned for their quite exceptional sweetness. The unique color dresses up many a dish and has the added advantage that it doesn’t bleed as do the red varieties.

100 seeds

Beta vulgaris

Germination: 5-10 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 50-85ºFSoaking seed overnight aids in germination.

Seed Sowing Depth: 1/2” deep

Starting Indoors: 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Sow 1-2 seeds per cell/pot. Thin to 1 seedling per cell/pot. Transplant outdoors when the first true leaves appear, 3” apart.

Sowing Outdoors: Early spring with soil temperatures at least 50ºF. Sow 1-2” apart, thin when plants are 2-4” tall, 3-4” apart. Germination is slower at lower soil temperatures.

How much does a packet plant: 15-20 foot single row

Harvest: Begin picking at 1” for baby beets and up to 3” across for the most tender and best tasting. For best storage cut off the greens 2” above the top of the beet.

Tips: Beets “seeds” are actually fruits that contain multiple seeds inside with several seedlings emerging from one seed. Use the thinned seedlings for beet greens or plant a heavily seeded row for baby beet greens. Beets need to grow rapidly and evenly by providing soil rich in organic matter and adequate moisture. Sow every 2 weeks for a continuous harvest.

Seeds arrived - rest ???

Hello and appreciate the chance to provide some feedback. This is my second year buying from you all and my first year buying anything additional to seeds. All ordering was a breeze and the pics and summaries were great. Two items I’d love to see elevated. One “Padron Peppers” we grew these last year and they were insanely spicy. I went back to the label and they said “hot padrons” on the actual back. So I thought “ok I need to ensure these are NOT the hot kind for ‘22. This time I was again duped whereby the website says “Padron” but the seed packets say “hot Padron.” The sad part is I ordered a lot of those seeds this year. Second item is the other stuff like onions, garlic, and berry plants. I’d love more regular updates as to when those will arrive. I know at ordering it mentioned the regular times for arrival and planting; but I’d like to be reminded every now and again that ya’ll 1) have the order still 2) remember that I’m patiently waiting and 3) are on target to have them arrive on xxxx date. Helps me to keep them top of mind and to plan around more proactively. Appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback all.

Pinetree Garden Seeds

HI Casey, We do appreciate your feedback! Padrons are an interesting pepper since you can get super hot, mild hot and mild out of the same packet. Also, the weather plays a big role in the heat of peppers. Hot, dry summers produce hotter peppers and cool, wet summers the opposite. Our onions and sweet potatoes are drop shipped directly from our suppliers and we do not give out customer emails so there are not updates, and for our products unfortunately our system isn't set up that way. We are available by phone and email for customers to check on the status of orders. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with at this time. Thank you and Happy Gardening ~ Deby

I plant these every year. They are tender and sweet with a mild beet flavor even when they get big.

Easy and taste good!

They are amazing. They sprouted quickly and grew like champs. At 60 days I was able to harvest plum size beats that were tasty and easy to grow.
