Sungold Tomato (F1 Hybrid, 60 Days)

Great "tomatoey" flavor and very sweet, an 8 on the brix scale. Fruits are nearly 1 inch round globes which turn a very attractive golden orange when ripe. Productive vines provide very high yields. A customer favorite!

15 seeds

Solanum lycopersicum

Germination: 7-14 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 70-85ºF.

Seed Sowing Depth: 1/4” deep

Starting Indoors: 6 weeks before the last frost. Provide 75-80ºF soil temperatures. Sow 2-3 seeds per cell/pot, thin to the strongest seedling or use the 20 Row seedling flat, transplanting into individual pots when seedlings get their 3rd set of leaves. Fertilize the seedlings every 7-10 days with a liquid or water-soluble fertilizer, diluted to ¼ of the suggested measurement. Transplant out after the last frost. Space 24-36" apart

Sowing Outdoors: Only in areas with very long growing seasons. Sow after the last frost.

Harvest: When fruit is red (or color of the variety planted) and firm.

Tips: Plant in fertile soil, amended with compost, mulch and provide even moisture. Plant deeper than they were growing in the containers as it makes a stronger roots system. Apply a light compost tea every few weeks. Do not apply excessive nitrogen, which can promote excessive foliage and poor fruit set.

Sungold tomato.

All seeds germinated, however, there were only 12 seeds in the package, not 15. Sungold is one of our staples. It is the best tasting, sweetest cherry tomato we have tried. I often just stand in the garden eating them, one after the other. Yum!

I am not even exaggerating when I say that these were the best tomatoes I have ever tasted. They grew great with no complaints from me, and I could not have been happier with the outcome. They were far and away my favorite thing I grew in the garden this past year.

Sungold Tomato (F1 hybrid, 60 days)

Half of the seeds did not germinate. So Pinetree graciously and quickly sent me another package at no charge. However, this year the tomatoes took longer to ripen than usual (I have grown sungold tomatoes for many years). The flavor is pretty good but not outstanding like in years past. And the skin is much tougher than usual. So overall, a rather disappointing year.

Sungold Tomato: I had no problems with germination and/or the planting and growing of the plants. I grew the plants in a wooden barrel half. Three plants in one barrel. The plant grows extremely tall, ( 8 feet) and has plenty of fruit. The tomatoes has a very good taste but are better with salt and pepper. The skin is extremely tough and must be expelled. I would not plant this again.

My experience was good and I will return for future purchases.
