We bought 25 Purple Passion Asparagus roots this spring. Although they looked slightly fragile when they appeared, as bare root often does, these little plants were anything but wimpy! To grow great asparagus in spring, you have to grow the ferns in summer. Well, we are now in August right after prolonged heat and barely any rain in July, but they are doing great! They keep putting up new fern after new fern! This is the best, strongest, and most encouraging asparagus we’ve ever grown. If the harvest is as plentiful as the ferns promise, we are going to be happy campers come Spring!
Very good all the seeds did well except the peas which I sowed twice with no germination
excellent product received in good shape
We ordered 25 crowns in 2017 and trenched them in our native clay mixed with soil and sand, mulched and let them ride. Nearly all of them had multiple thin, ferny stalks through the summer, but this spring has been the surprise: every crown has sent up at least one finger-thick, beautiful purple stalk of asparagus! I wasn't expecting to have more than a couple of harvestable stalks this year, but it's been a wonderful surprise. Thank you for the healthy crowns, Pinetree!
