This is true watercress and surprisingly easy to grow. The tender leaves are the most succulent green imaginable. Plants yield well for several months and then taper off so you might want to make an additional mid-season planting.

PLANTING

Nasturtium officinale

Perennial: Zone 6-9

Germination: 7-14 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 60-65ºF. 

Seed Sowing Depth: 1/4 inch deep

Sowing Indoors: 4-5 weeks before last frost. Sow 2-3 seeds per cell/pot. Keep soil moist until germination. Transplant 9-12" apart

Sowing Outdoors: Spring when soil temperature reaches 60ºF.  Sow 1" apart, thin to 3-6" apart. Keep soil moist until germination.

Harvest: Clip individual leaves 

Tips:  Plant in fertile, moist soil. Amend with compost before planting if needed. Needs consistent moisture for the best growth. Container growing- after the plant has made some growth immerse the pot in a container of water and change the water often.
