Pentas are absolutely perfect for the front edge of a flower garden or in containers. Colorful clusters of star-shaped blooms are set just above the shiny compact foliage, producing non-stop color throughout the season. Uniform, 12-15” plants are heat and drought tolerant.

Germination: 7-21 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 70-75ºF

Seed Planting Depth: Sow on the surface and press into soil, seeds need light to germinate

Starting Indoors:  Start indoors 8-12 weeks before the last frost. Provide 70-75ºF soil temperature. Transplant apart after the last frost, 12” apart.  

Sowing Outdoors: Direct sowing outdoors is not recommended

Growth Habit: Upright, branching

Spacing: 12-15" apart

Light Needs: Full sun

Soil Needs: Average to fertile, well-drained

Approximate days to flower from seed: 100-110 days

Uses: Flower beds, containers, window boxes, attracts pollinators

Care: Water seedlings regularly until established. Amend soil with compost before transplanting.  Cut back stems as the blooms fade, this encourages more flower production. Apply a liquid fertilizer every 3-4 weeks or use a time-release fertilizer at planting time.
