Chocolate Mint Coleus

Very interesting coleus with rich dark chocolate red leaves with light green edges. Reliable performance in lightly shaded gardens and patio planters. This coleus will tolerate the sun in high humid areas.

Germination: 10-15 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 70-75ºF.

Seed Planting Depth: Sow on the surface, needs light to germinate

Starting Indoors:  Start indoors 8-12 weeks before the last frost. Provide 70-75 ºF soil temperatures. Transplant after the last frost date,10-12” apart.

Sowing Outdoors: Direct sowing outdoors is not recommended

Growth Habit: Upright

Spacing: 8-12” apart

Light Needs:  Part sun to shade 

Soil Needs: Average to fertile, well-drained

Approximate days to flower from seed: Sizable seedlings are ready 12-14 weeks after sowing.

Care: Water seedlings regularly until established. When grown in containers coleus needs to be fertilized and watered regularly. During the heat of summer, they will need to be watered a few times a week. Apply a liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks or use a time-release fertilizer at planting time.
