|Short Description||Germ 3-10 days. We are very excited to add this enchanting open pollinated variety to our broccoli selection this year. It is a cross between broccoli and two kales, absolutely beautiful either in the garden or edible landscape. The young leaves are tender, great for salads and the older colorful serrated leaves are used like kale. Loose heads of purple florets are not massive in size, but taste excellent with the plant then producing generous side shoots. This is definitely one vegetable you will want to show off to the visitors of your garden. Bred by Frank Morton. 30 seeds|
- Love this plant! Review by Lora
- This was my first year with this plant. I loved all parts of it. Its just my husband and I now and we were kept in leaves and/or heads all season. The leaves were never bitter like kale can be sometimes, however I did have a plant that was very hot like a mustard. It still was very good. (Posted on 11/30/14)
- Did not head for me this year - maybe my fault? Review by Beth
- I started these indoors and perhaps they got shocked when I moved them outside. The grew very slowly and did not produce any heads. The leaves were a great color and were tasty both raw in salads and cooked (perhaps because they were small and tender). Since I also had trouble with the Belstar broccoli which has worked for me in the past, I suspect it was something about the planting. (Posted on 11/20/14)
